Welcome Kristina Leighty!

LEED Green Associate

What's your current position?
As Senior Vice President of Project Management for Colliers International in VA, MD, and DC, my job responsibilities include programming, budgeting, scheduling, and space planning services for our clients as well as coordinating all vendors involved with each project—architects, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural engineers, audio visual, security, moving, furniture, tele/data cabling, internet, phones, signage, permit expediters, and lighting.

What is the history of your career?
After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1990, I began my career in the architectural and design industry working in Alaska, Florida, and Virginia. Prior to becoming Senior Vice President of Project Management at Colliers International, I was an Interior Designer for an Architectural firm in Northern Virginia.

What attracted you to CREW NoVA?
I have been a guest to many CREW events during the past several years and have always enjoyed meeting new and interesting women in our industry. The camaraderie and support that women in CREW provide one another is inspiring and I look forward to being part of such a great organization that supports women in the commercial real estate market.
What woman inspires you?
The woman that inspires me the most is my mother, Trish Seifert. Her drive and passion for her work and caring for others have always been an inspiration to me. As a nurse and mentor at INOVA's Heart Institute, I have watched my mother care for fellow nurses, surgeons, hospital staff, patients, and their families under extremely stressful situations—always with a positive and caring attitude. She is my Hero!

What's your family like?
I grew up in McLean, VA, but now live in Haymarket, VA, with my husband and two boys. My oldest son is about to graduate from college and my youngest son is an Army Cadet at University of North Georgia.  He will graduate next spring and will enter the US Army. My parents still live in McLean—in the home I grew up in. My husband's family also lives close to us. We are very happy to have family so close to us.
Do you have a fun fact about yourself?
I love archery and the outdoors. My husband surprised me with a compound bow several years ago and one day I hope to be a better archer than him.
