UCREW Spotlight: Rebecca Smith-Zakowicz and Courtney Scheepers

As part of UCREW efforts, the CREW NoVA Community Action Committee has partnered with George Mason University’s Masters in Real Estate Development (MRED) Program to make meaningful connections between graduate students and industry professionals. CREW NoVA is thrilled to announce the successful mentorship between CREW NoVA member Rebecca Smith-Zakowicz and Courtney Scheepers. Rebecca and Courtney were introduced by CREW and have since established ripples of impacts in their personal and professional lives. The pair started meeting last Fall and decided to meet beyond the initial commitment, and have continued meeting on a monthly basis discussing topics such as having difficult conversations, increasing confidence, and harnessing the power of body language. Courtney has incorporated advice and tools from Rebecca’s experience to assist with a mentorship within her company, Gordon. Courtney has shared the knowledge she has gained through Rebecca and professors in the GMU MRED program to help influence future leaders though improving their self-awareness and communication with others.
